A Good SP Game? 5 Comments

So, having been a bit bored recently I decided to play through the Single Player of World In Conflict (My second time through the campaign.)  Now I'm looking for something else to play through.  Any suggestions?

If your a fan of strategy games like world in conflict, try supreme commander, i'm a big command and conquer fan though the 3rd didn't really live up to my expectations.. If looking for something different how about the new far cry? it got good reviews and looks visually stunning or even Dead Space

Sadly, my machine doesn't have the horsepower to run SupCom or Far Cry 2. WIC is actually surprisingly well optimized to run on slower machines and that's quite an achievement considering the average requirements games tend to churn out. I have played C&C3 + Kane's Wrath, although that game also tends to lag my machine on the bigger maps. System Specs wise, as that will help in finding a game I have a 2.0Ghz, however performance on it is more around the 1.4-1.5Ghz mark. Memory is no issue, 2GB there, and video is a Geforce 6800.

Your running something similar to me.. i tried running Crysis.. on the lowest settings it was still a mistake :p Bioshock worked.. just.. and that real compelling story that will suck you in, i didnt think i'd like it so much. Resident evil 4, if you have a gamepad is definitely one to add to the collection that will work with no lag. Or even try Black and White 2, that doesnt take to much processing power which im suprised, though the game is quite short. Or perhaps its time to upgrade your graphics card? i know that i'm meaning to sort mine but finding the time is a problem for me.

Try Doom 3 it's rather atmospheric and downright scary at bits!

I'd save the more demanding games until you get a better comp, it's tempting to try to play them on systems that can't really handle them properly. But if you want to really enjoy them, wait until you can run them as they were intended. I enjoyed Space Empires IV, turn based strategy game, very low system requirements. It's not to everyone's taste as you do need to keep paying attention to quite a lot of little details. Civilization 3 is good, I just didn't get on with civ 4, if you've not played the civ series (bet you have) then that's good. Europa Universalis III is you are looking for a really detailed strategy game, not easy to get into but lots of depths and replayability once you do. Both will run fine on your system.
