Networking! 2 Comments

Networking is fun! Seriously. Nothing like creating complex networks that are just plain epic. It's probably an.. acquired experience though, as I find it unlikely that many people will enjoy it as much.

Telnet Client 0 Comments

I've been using a telnet client called Poderosa to work with my Cisco devices for a couple weeks now and I must say I am quite impressed with it's features. It supports macros, and multiple panes so that you can view a couple devices at the same time side by side. All and all, a very powerful...

BGP and Macs 0 Comments

BGP and Macs (Apple Computers.. aka Macintoshs) are really similar i've found. You have to trick both of them into doing what you want them to. With BGP if you arn't using interfaces further away from the source.. they sometimes don't send the right next_hop attribute to their eBPG neighbor....

Univercd 0 Comments

Univercd. Having to use it without search capacity just plain sucks, as it's horrible to navigate sometimes. Anybody else find this? Anybody have any tips on navigating it better?

Routing ftw? 0 Comments

So, what you see below is the process of what I did this morning on a router. Any questions about any specific part? Well, I might have had a reason for doing it and I might not. Feel free to ask though and I'll see what I can tell you about it.

User Access...

C.i.s.c.o. spells Cisco! 0 Comments

Another update from my brain, which seems to have been eaten by Cisco. Or had that already happened and this is just it really starting to show? Either way, a bad thing? I'm not really sure...

Anyways, I'm still fighting with QoS and trying to fully learn what I need to for the...

Goal #38573 1 Comments

Well.. maybe not 38573, but it sounds cool, yes?

Anyways, my current goal is to go and take the Cisco 350-001 exam.  Of course I need to study and prepare for it, so who knows how long its going to take me to actually pass...

Today's Challenge 4 Comments

Today's challenge is determining how to use the question mark character "?" in a password on a Cisco router when configuring a key-chain.  Hrm.  Puzzling.

(Key-chain is to be used with EIGRP Authentication, but that makes no difference.)

NAT 0 Comments

Or more specifically, NAT-PT.

This one is a really cool issue, took me a bit of troubleshooting but I finally tracked down my issue with NAT-PT. (NAT-PT is IPv4 to IPv6 Translation.)

As you can see with the output below, after configuring NAT-PT normally,...

ODR 0 Comments

ODR or On-Demand Routing, is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol that I have a love-hate relationship with.

Simply put, I despise it due to its lack of configuration options, troubleshooting difficulties, and the fact that it uses CDP to transmit information which causes a huge...

Full Duplex? Nah... 0 Comments

Ethernet without Full Duplex?  Apparently!

FRS(config-if)#duplex full
This command is not supported for Ethernet0.

Err.... Something tells me this router is having some issues. Yeah.. Who honestly makes an ethernet...

%OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 172.16.105.1 on Vlan30 from EXSTART to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Too many retransmissions

No matter what I try, for some reason I can't seem to resolve this issue.  Theres nothing wrong with the link physically as both ICMP and CDP packets navigate...
